Operations
and Maintenance (O&M), under the direction of
Jack T. Baker, is to operate, maintain, repair and
renew the campus' facilities and infrastructure. Work is performed using a wide
range of methods:
- In-house work force of the traditional facility trades, 200+ plus staff members.
- Service contracts for elevators, chillers (preventive maintenance and overhaul), roofs, UPS systems, etc.
- Trigen-Cinergy Systems, a public/private partnership, is responsible for the operation and renewal of our steam production and distribution system, our high voltage distribution system, and a district chilled water plant (steam driven) for the northern "research" area of campus (17 buildings).
- Bid contractors for exterior painting, road/sidewalk repair, system component replacement.
Operations and Maintenance Units:

Facilities Maintenance
includes units that provide area maintenance, electrical, pipe services,
maintenance contracts for roads and sidewalks, roofs, exterior painting,
and elevator maintenance.
HVAC Services include
heating, air conditioning, energy management, refrigeration, and
fume hood maintenance units.
Life Safety Systems Units provide
inspection, testing & maintenance of a wide variety of emergency
equipment including fire alarm systems, automatic sprinkler systems,
fire pumps & controllers, underground water mains, fire extinguishers,
emergency showers & eyewashes.
O&M also has dedicated facility managers for the Shady Grove campus, Intercollegiate Athletics (ICA), the Clarice Smith Performing Arts Center and other facilities. |
